Pune Police’s Crime Branch Nabs Prolific House Burglar, Unravels Three Cases

Pune: Pune Police’s Crime Branch Unit Two apprehended a notorious house burglar, Vikas Sunil Ghodke (28), a resident of Vadgaon Sheri, on Thursday, February 29. Acting on increasing reports of burglaries in Pune city, the vigilant officers, Gajanan Sonune and Amar Sarde, patrolling the area, received crucial information leading to Ghodke’s arrest. The subsequent interrogation not only resulted in Ghodke’s capture but also unveiled three cases of burglary, shedding light on his extensive criminal activities.

During the interrogation, the police recovered stolen goods valued at Rs. 5,54,760, including gold ornaments weighing 14 grams, silver ornaments weighing 100 grams, and the knife used in the crime. Additionally, investigations revealed Ghodke’s involvement in cases registered at Bharti University Police Station, Sihangad Police Station, and Faraskhana Police Station.

Ghodke, a repeat offender, has over 50 cases registered against him in various areas, including Thane, Kalyan, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Latur, and Pune city. His arrest has not only halted his spree of burglaries but also unearthed his accomplices in the criminal network. Police are currently intensifying efforts to locate Prateek Suresh Dahiwalkar (22), a jeweller, and Rohan alias Dudhya Chavan, residents of Nana Peth, Pune, suspected of involvement in receiving stolen jewellery.

The police have augmented charges against Ghodke under Section 411 of the Criminal Code and are actively searching for the accused.
