Pune: Police Found Four-Year-Old Girl After Going Missing in Balewadi: Police Praised for Swift Action

Pune: A four-year-old girl who went missing in the Balewadi area was successfully found by the police within half an hour and safely reunited with her family, earning the officers widespread praise for their prompt and effective response.
The girl, Ananya, is the daughter of Akanksha Sandeep Galphade, a domestic worker residing in Balewadi. As usual, Akanksha left for work early in the morning, around 7:30 a.m., while her daughter was still asleep. However, when she returned home at 11:00 a.m., she discovered that Ananya was missing. Despite asking around in the neighbourhood, no one had any information about the girl’s whereabouts, prompting Akanksha to file a missing person report at the Balewadi police station.
Upon receiving the report, Sub-Inspector R.R. Patil and his team immediately began searching the area. After an intensive search, they found Ananya about a kilometre away, sitting on a stone and crying. When questioned, Ananya said that she had wandered off while playing and didn’t know how to find her way back home.
“Given the number of incidents occurring in society today, it is crucial for everyone to remain vigilant,” said Sub-Inspector Patil. “We are relieved to have found the young girl quickly, but this serves as a reminder that parents need to pay special attention to their children’s safety,” said Patil.
