Pune police carry out combing operation, 2,924 criminals checked

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Police Combing Operation | A combing operation has been undertaken by all police stations and Crime Branch under the jurisdiction of Pune police commissionerate. Teams of police officials and policemen and the Crime Branch had been created. The teams carried out a combing operation and checking from 11 pm on February 28 to March 1 midnight.

 

Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta had given instructions that a combing operation should be carried out and criminals should be checked and preventive action should take place. He had given instructions that suspicious people found at hotels, lodges, dhabas, ST and bus stops, railway stations and public places should be questioned and action should be taken. During this operation, 2,924 criminals were checked and 614 criminals were found.

 

During the operation, 15 daggers of Rs 5,200 and two swords of Rs 2,000 were seized and 11 accused were arrested. The Crime Branch and the police have registered 6 and 4 cases respectively.

 

The anti-narcotic cell officials seized ganja worth Rs 82,000 and weighing 4 kg 78 gms and arrested an accused under the jurisdiction of Loni Kalbhor police station. An FIR under NDPS Act has been filed against him. The police have registered four cases and arrested three people and seized 30 litre country liquor worth Rs 1,200 under the Mumbai Prohibition Act.

 

Preventive action was taken against 41 accused under CRPC Act and also against externed criminals. 130 hotels and lodges were checked. During the naka bandi, 554 suspicious vehicles were checked and action was taken against 14 vehicles. The traffic police took action against 19 two-wheelers, 15 three-wheelers and 15 four-wheelers.

 

The action was taken on an order issued by CP Amitabh Gupta by Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Addl CP Rajendra Dahale, Addl CP Namdev Chavan, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Srinivas Ghadge, DCP Priyanka Narnavare, DCP Sagar Patil, DCP Pornima Gaikwad, DCP Rohidas Pawar, DCP Namrata Patil and DCP (traffic) Rahul Shrirame who guided the teams of Crime Branch, traffic branch and officials of police stations and policemen to carry out the combing operation.
