Pune police additional commissioner Sahebrao Patil to contest Lok Sabha elections?

NPNEWS24 Online : Pune –  There are strong talks in the police and political circles that Pune city police’s additional commissioner of police (administration) Sahebrao Patil may resign from the department, to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Jalgaon. He is in talks with the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) sources said.

Patil added fuel to the speculation when he told mediapersons that he will contest if he given a chance. Patil is currently on leave.

Patil is a native of Tamaswadi village in Parola taluka of Jalgaon district. His elder brother is a progressive farmer. Patil joined the Maharashtra Police as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) in 1990. He has also worked in different cities including Nagpur, Nashik, Dhule, Thane, Pune Rural and State Intelligence Department (SID).

While working in the police force, he has been working in social and cultural fields through the Saiba Foundation and the Gaotirth Mahadev Temple Trust, in training students, giving jobs to the unemployed, farming, and solving problems of the farmers.

During the last Lok Sabha elections in 2014, former Pune police commissioner Dr Satyapal Singh had resigned as Commissioner of Mumbai Police, to contest the Lok Sabha elections on BJP ticket. He won with thumping margin from Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh) and became a minister in the Union Cabinet.
