Pune PMC News | PMC’s finance committee approves works of ₹2,100 crore; Civic body gives ₹194 crore to MahaMetro

Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune PMC News | The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) financial committee has approved revenue and capital expenditure of ₹2,100 crore in the first month of the new financial year. The PMC is being ruled by the administrator and for the second consecutive year, there are no people’s representatives. The effect is visible this year and the finance committee has approved various works of ₹2,100 crore. After the committee gives approval, the pre-calculation sheet of the works is prepared and if it is okayed, the tender process is completed. Later, the work order is issued. Generally, it is seen that since this is a time consuming process, the works are not completed on time.

Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar informed the journalists that the civic administration has approved works of ₹2,100 crore in the first month. They include revenue works of ₹1,240 crore and finance works of ₹890 crore. After the approval from the finance committee, it remains to be seen how fast the next process is completed which is linked to timely completion of the project.

The standing committee has approved the water supply scheme planned for newly-included Sus-Mhalunge villages in PMC limits. Now, approval has been given for the water supply scheme of ₹283 crore prepared for Wagholi-Lohegaon villages. From the scheme, 60 MLD water will be supplied. Water from Bhama-Askhed dam will be available. From Bhama-Askhed dam, the supply of 200 MLD water every day to PMC has been approved. Of it, the PMC is lifting only 120 MLD water per day. The Wagholi-Lohegaon water supply scheme has been approved considering the population in the area in 2041. Even after completion of the scheme, 20 MLD share of PMC will remain unutilised.

The PMC owes ₹400 crore to MahaMetro. Of this, ₹194 crore has been given to MahaMetro. A sum of ₹44 crore has been given as TOD share. Because of Metro work, water gets accumulated in many areas but MahaMetro has not taken any steps to solve this problem. The civic body is going to carry out work in affected areas and the charges will be deducted from the money to be paid to MahaMetro.
