Pune Pimpri Chinchwad Crime Branch News | Crime Branch of Pimpri Chinchwad police arrests six big bookies for accepting bets on IPL cricket matches
PUNE: Pune Pimpri Chinchwad Crime Branch News | The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Crime Branch of the Pimpri Chinchwad police has arrested six bookies who were accepting bets on an IPL cricket match from a flat in Hinjewadi. An FIR has been registered against nine people including the bookies. The police have seized 13 mobiles, two laptops and other goods worth ₹4.81 lakh.
The arrested accused have ben identified as Vaibhav Babram Dikkar (28), a resident of Akot taluka in Akola district, Sachin Gangaram Aajge, a resident of Dhule district, Vikas Kailas Lendhe (22), a resident of Pune district, Omkar Bira Bhand (20), a resident of Pune district, Ashish Niranjan Deshmukh (28), a resident of Akola district and Mahesh Parameshwar Kale (33), a resident if Akola. Their aides Ram Bhanushali, Vikas Raysingh Chavan and Prakash Bhagwandas Tejwani are absconding.
Officials and policemen of AHTU of the Crime Branch of Pimpri Chinchwad police were patrolling in the limits of Hinjewadi police station. They came to know that large-scale betting was taking place in flat number 1405 on 14th floor of G building in Kolte Patil project located in the area from Laxmi Chowk to Marunji Road. The information was verified and senior officials were informed.
The AHTU team raided the flat under the guidance of senior police officials and they found that Vaibhav Babaram Dikkar and others were accepting bets on the match between LSG vs KKR on various websites. They were immediately apprehended and two laptops worth ₹90,000, 13 mobiles worth ₹3.90 lakh, wi-fi router and four notebooks worth ₹4.81 lakh were seized. The police are searching for absconding accused and the mastermind.
Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint CP Dr Sanjay Shinde, Addl CP Vasant Pardeshi, DCP Swapna Gore, ACP Dr Prashant Amrutkar guided Sr PI Devendra Chavan of AHTU, PSI Pradipsingh Sisode, PSI Vijay Kamble, policemen Sunil Shirsath, Ganesh Karote, policewoman Vaishnavi Gavde and policeman Nagesh Mali of Technical Analysis Wing in taking the action.
