Pune News : Corona vaccine stock over in Pune, All vaccination centers of PMC closed

New Delhi : Due to non-supply of Corona vaccine by the government, all the vaccination centers of Pune Municipal Corporation will be closed today (July 1). Vaccination has been on the rise in the city for the past few days, but vaccination centers will have to be closed on the first day of July.

The city of Pune was getting a large supply of vaccines as compared to other cities. However, due to non-receipt of vaccines from the government on Wednesday, vaccination at municipal centers will be completely closed today (Thursday, July 1).

Meanwhile, Kamla Nehru Hospital will provide the remaining Covishield vaccine to the students going abroad. Today, a second dose of covaxin will be available at one of the zonal hospitals in the city and at Sassoon Hospital. For those who have taken the first dose before June 2, 50 per cent of the vaccine will be available through online booking, while 50 per cent of the vaccine will be available on the spot.

Vaccination rates in slums are low

On the other hand, less vaccination has been found among slum dwellers in Pune and Pimpri chinchwad. As many as 51 per cent of slum dwellers fear that vaccination will pose a health risk, while 30 per cent stay away from vaccination due to inaccurate and incomplete information about vaccination, according to a survey.

The survey was conducted through Akanksha Foundation, Teach for India and iTeach Schools. On the one hand the decision to go to the slums and get vaccinated is welcomed while on the other hand the aim is to increase the percentage of vaccinations in these areas.
