NCP’s Pune unit is becoming ‘turnaround party’

Pune : NpNews24 Online The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) which had demanded a probe by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) into the contracts of new hospitals to be built on the Purchasing Power Parity basis at Baner-Balewadi and Warje being awarded only to selected companies, has made a turnaround in 24 hours.

The NCP, by supporting the civic body’s plans for the hospitals in the General Body meeting held on Friday, once again showed that it had maintained consistency in making turnarounds.

The proposal for constructing a multispeciality hospital in Warje and a cancer hospital in Baner-Balewadi was approved in the Standing Committee a week ago. The civic body is going to provide the land for the hospitals and the construction companies will manage their administration for 30 years.

The companies will take a loan which will be guaranteed by the civic body and will treat patients sent by the civic body at minimum rates. A proposal regarding taking permission of the state government was tabled in the GB.

Two days ago, NCP city unit president Prashant Jagtap had levelled an allegation that BJP members had planned the hospitals to ensure financial security of their children.

He had also submitted a petition in the Pune ACB superintendent office alleging large scale corruption in various projects approved in the last five years. However, since NCP supported the proposal in GB, it has again made a turnaround. Earlier, the party had opposed the proposal to bring out a coffee table book on the corona epidemic and later supported the move.

House leader Ganesh Bidkar issued a clarification that the proposal will be implemented only after sanction from the state government and this satisfied the opposition leaders.
