Pune : NpNews24 Online Pune Municipal Election 2022 | The State Election Commission (SEC) has declared the ward structures of 14 civic bodies. Meanwhile, the reserved seats for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections have also been declared.
Of the 173 seats in the PMC, 23 seats have been reserved for the SC and one seat for ST category. The SEC has released the population-wise lists. Thus, 25 wards have been reserved, out of which 13 have reserved for women. Of these, 12 seats are meant for the SC and one seat for ST category. Moreover, the women’s quota will be decided by the lottery system.
The SEC has assumed the city’s population as per Census 2011 to be 35,56,824. Out of this, the SC population is 4,80,017 while the ST population is 41,561. Thus, the reserved wards have been decided.
The reserved SC wards are ward no. 1: Dhanori-Vishrantwadi, ward no. 3: Lohegaon-Viman Nagar, ward no. 4: East Kharadi-Wagholi, ward no. 7: Kalyani Nagar-Nagpur Chawl, ward no. 8: Kalas-Phule Nagar, ward no. 9: Yerwada, ward no. 10: Shivajinagar Gaothan-Sangamwadi, ward no. 11: Bopodi-Savitribai Phule Pune University, ward no. 12: Aundh-Balewadi, ward no. 19: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Stadium-Rasta Peth, ward no. 20: Pune Station-Matoshri Ramabai Ambedkar road, ward no. 21: Koregaon Park-Mundhwa, ward no. 22: Manjari-Shewalewadi, ward no. 26: Wanawadi Gaothan-Vaiduwadi, ward no. 27: Kasewadi-Lohiyanagar, ward no. 37: Janata Vasahat-Dattawadi, ward no. 38: Shivdarshan-Padmavati, ward no. 39: Market Yard-Maharshinagar, ward no. 42: Ramtekdi-Sayyed Nagar, ward no. 46: Mohammadwadi-Uruli Devachi, ward no. 47: Kondhwa Budruk-Yewalewadi, ward no. 48: Upper-Super Indiranagar, ward no. 50: Sahakar Nagar-Taljai.
Reserved wards for ST category: ward no. 1: Dhanori-Vishrantwadi, ward no. 14: Pashan-Bavdhan Budruk.
