Pune Metro | Satara resident Loco Pilot Apoorva drives metro in PM Modi’s presence

SATARA: NpNews24 Online  –  Pune Metro | The metro rail service is operational in a few cities and helps in transporting commuters to different destinations in less time. The metro rail service is expanding its service in Pune. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the extended stretches of Pune Metro. A girl from Satara, Apoorva Pramod Alatkar, got the opportunity to display her talent and efficiency to the prime minister. Loco Pilot Apoorva drove the metro from Vanaz with the technical help from metro authorities. (Pune Metro)

Apoorva Alatkar stays in Rangole Colony in Shahupuri. She is the daughter of Pramod and Ujjwala. Pramod Alatkar in the Satara office of a Marathi newspaper. Apporva studied in Bapusaheb Chiplunkar School from std 1 to 7. Later, she studied in Anant English School from std 8 to 10.

After SSC, she studied mechanical engineering in Government Engineering College in Solapur. After completing her studies, she returned to Satara and completed her postgraduation in Dnyanashree Institute at Sajjangad in the same branch. After completing her studies, she got a job in Kalyani Group in Pune.

When she was working in the Kalyani Group, a lockdown was announced. Later, she returned to Satara. In 2019, she got information about various vacancies in Pune Metro. She applied for a job and she was called for the first round by Pune Metro. After completing the first, second and third rounds, which were difficult, she was offered a job by Pune Metro in February 2023.

After her appointment, she was given the responsibility of station controller of Vanaz station and train operator. The work on four stretches was going on and Pune Metro was planning the dedication of these extended stretches. After it was decided that PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the stretches, the administration of Pune Metro started providing training about driving these coaches.

Apoorva was one of the trainees and she completed the 45-day technical training which was difficult. PM Modi came to Pune on Tuesday. All preparations had been made. As per the plans, Apporva was ready at Vanaz with ‘mask on key’. PM Modi flagged off the train and by using ‘mask on key’, Apporva started operating the metro towards Ruby Hall Clinic station.
Locopilot Apoorva reached her destination safely despite tension and people’s expectations. After using Automatic Train Protection (ATP), Traction Brake Controller (TBC) and following instructions of the controller, Apoorva brought the train back to Vanaz station. Apoorva completed her task in a responsible and became a successful locopilot.

Apoorva said, “After completing my education, I was searching for a good opportunity and I got it due to Pune Metro. I had the dual responsibility of metro station controller and train operator. I got the opportunity to drive the metro. I had never thought in my dreams that I would get an opportunity to drive the metro and I made the most of it. I had the blessings of many people with me which helped me.”

“While studying, Apoorva wanted to do something different and hence, she was always busy with studies. While she was studying, she never demanded anything. She used to always say that she will do something different and she has done it. She has fulfilled all my expectations. She has made our family and Satara proud with her achievement,” Pramod Alatkar, Apporva’s father said.

“Apporva had dedicated herself to studies from the beginning. She wanted to do something different. She was always willing to work hard. The efforts made by her and us have borne fruit. We are very happy that she drove the metro and we are proud of her.”
