Pune: Man shoots son-in-law five times for inter-caste marriage

NPnews24 Online Pune: A 20-year-old youth had narrow escape when his wife’s uncle fired at him for inter-caste marriage, on Wednesday near Chandani Chowk. Sleuths from Crime Branch unit 4 of Pune city police have arrested three persons in the case.

The injured Tushar Prakash Pisal of Rajegaon, Bhor taluka, has lodged FIR with Hinjewadi police station (Pimpri-Chinchwad police) against four persons. He is currently admitted in Sahyadri hospital.

On Thursday, acting on tip-off received by head constable Sunil Pawar, a team led by Police Inspector Anjum Bagwan laid a trap nabbed three accused Akash Lahu Tawre (22), Sagar Lahu Tawre (24) and Sagar Ramchandra Palwe (21), all residents of Rajegaon. They were caught near Sambhaji Garden on JM Road, Shivajinagar, while trying to escape.

As per Pisal’s complaint, he has inter-caste marriage with sister of Akash and Sagar Tawre. This had enraged them and they had threatened to kill him. Around 7 pm on Wednesday, after attending a marriage ceremony, Pisal was riding triple-seat with his friends, when the arrested accused persons and girl’s uncle Raju Tawre intercepted him near the petrol pump (closed) on Bhugaon road near Chandani chowk. Raju fired five rounds at Pisal and the accused persons fled from the spot. After hearing the gunshots, the traffic policemen on duty at the chowk rushed to the spot and shifted Pisal to hospital.

After his statement was recorded at the police station, an FIR was registered. Assistant Police Inspector Ajay Jogdand of Hinjewadi police station is the investigating officer.

Meanwhile on Thursday, Pune police Crime Branch received information about the three accused persons and arrested them on JM Road.

Additional CP (crime) Pradip Deshpande, DCP (crime branch) Shirish Sardeshpande, ACP Bhanupratap Barge supervised the investigation team which included PSI Vijay Zanzad, and policemen Shankar Sampate, Vishal Shirke, Shankar Patil, Ramesh Chaudhar and Nilesh Shivtare.
