Pune: Kothrud Police arrest 13-year-old for murder

Pune: Kothrud police arrested a 13-year-old boy after he killed a 11-year-old while playing hide-and-seek on Sunday (January 31) in Kothrud area. The deceased has been identified as Vishwajeet Vinod Vanjari (age 11). Vishwajeet’s mother had lodged a complaint in this regard.

According to the information received, Vishwajeet is a resident of Kelewadi area. His mother works as a house help and his father is a laborer. The accused boy lived next door to Vishwajeet and they used to play together every day.

Earlier, Vishwajeet went missing on January 29 after which his relatives lodged a missing person complaint with Kothrud Police. While on a search for the boy, the police found his body in an open space in Kelewadi area on Sunday afternoon. On preliminary investigation, Police discovered that the boy was hit on the head.

Later, police arrested the accused and investigated the matter further. Upon interrogation the accused confessed that he had killed Vishwajeet after some argument broke between them while playing. A case of murder has been registered and further investigations are underway, the police said.
