FIR registered against 4 people in Katraj cylinder blasts case

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Katraj LPG Gas Cylinder Blast | The Katraj area in Pune was rocked by cylinder blasts on Tuesday evening. Twenty two cylinders exploded but fortunately, there was no loss of life. An FIR has been registered against the owner of the place and four others at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station in connection with the blasts case.

 

What was shocking was there was a huge stock of LPG gas cylinders. The police have seized 26 big and 141 small cylinders. The incident happened behind Sudhamata temple at Anjalinagar in Katraj at 5 pm.

 

An FIR has been filed against Sagar Sandeep Patil, a resident of behind Sudhamata temple, Anjalinagar, Katraj, Sonu Mangde, Sampat Sawant, owner of the place Dattatraya Kale under sections 285,308, 435, 436, 336, 34 of the IPC.

 

The police have arrested businessman Sagar Patil. Police constable Ganesh Khandu Kal (25) has given a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.

 

On Tuesday evening, 22 cylinders exploded one after another in Sudhamata temple area at Katraj when the gas was being illegally filled in LPG cylinders. Because of the blasts, there was a huge blaze in the area. Teams of the fire brigade rushed to the spot and put out the blaze after a lot of efforts with the help of eight vehicles.

 

According to senior PI Jagannath Kalaskar, some people were illegally filling 5 kg cylinders from a big cylinder in Sudhamata temple area. However, the gas started leaking and it may have led to the blasts.

 

The police have seized 16 empty and eight big cylinders from the spot. A godown and 2 four-wheelers were burnt in the incident. The blasts were of such intensity that a water tank atop a house burst after it was hit by a piece of a cylinder. The glasses of a house also were shattered.

 

The children in the area were worried after the blasts. The police are investigating the case.
