Pune: Illegal Hookah Parlours Persist in Kondhwa! Police Crack Down on Mash Hotel, Arrest Five in Latest Incident
Pune: The Hookah activities in the Kondhwa areas are not showing any signs of slowing down. After an illegal hookah parlour was found operating in a hotel in Kondhwa last month, another incident has come to light from Kondhwa, where hookah parlour was openly going on in the Mash Hotel.
Rahul Rasage of Kondhwa Police Station’s investigation team has lodged a complaint at Kondhwa Police Station in this regard. Accordingly, the Kondhwa police have taken action against the hotel and registered a complaint against five people.
The people booked in the latest police action have been identified as the hotel owner Ali Irani (age 66, a resident of Hole Heights Society, Undri), hotel manager Ali Sayyad (age 28, a resident of Laxminagar, Yerawada), and three customers, Thomas Sujay Mandal (age 30, a resident of Undri and an original native of West Bengal), Ranjan Samarth Patra (age 27, a resident of Mash Hotel, Undri), and Rajkumar Vaman Pandit (age 30, a resident of Krishna Nagar, Mohammadwadi).
According to the information given by the police, the Assistant Police Inspector of the investigation team of Kondhwa Police Station, Lekhaji Shinde, Police Sub-Inspector Gawade, Constable Hirve, Police Ammaldar Chinchkar, and Rahul Rasage had gone to the Kad Nagar area for patrolling. At that time, Police Ammaldar Chinchkar got the news that the illegal sale of hookah was going on at the Mash Hotel adjacent to the Rising Star Football Club near Nyati Chowk.
Accordingly, police raided the location at night. At that time, they found eight people smoking hookah at three tables in the hotel. Further, they also noticed that four more small glass hookah pots were kept in the small room next to the cottage in the hotel.
After that, the police have seized goods worth Rs 36,300, including hookah flavours, hookah pots, and other materials. Assistant Police Inspector Lekhaji Shinde is investigating further in this case.
