Pune Hit-and-run case: Attempt to show that deceased IT engineers were drunk when incident happened

Pune: Yet another update has come about the hit-and-run case. Former State Home Minister and NCP (SP) MLA Anil Deshmukh has claimed that an attempt is being made to prove that the two deceased IT engineers were drunk at the time of the accident. He has uploaded a post on his X handle in this connection.

In his post on X, Deshmukh says: ‘It is now known that a medical report was prepared under political pressure to prove that the minor involved in the accident was not drunk by changing his blood samples. Being the former State Home Minister, I have received certain inputs that a plan has been made to prove that the deceased in the accident were drunk. They want to prove in court that the accident happened as the bike-borne duo was drunk. This will facilitate the release of the minor son of builder Vishal Agarwal’.

The police custody of the accused in the hit-and-run case has been extended. The child in conflict with law (CCL) will stay in the observation home till June 25. The police have sought more time to interrogate the CCL. The investigation has revealed that attempts have been made to protect the CCL. The claim made by Anil Deshmukh may lead to a new controversy. The opposition is likely to become aggressive over the issue.

The CCL, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, recklessly drove his father’s Porsche car and hit the IT engineers riding a mobike. They died in the incident. The CCL was immediately released on bail. However, many people raised their voice and the CCL was sent to the observation home. His parents, grandfather, two doctors and a peon from the Sassoon Hospital and some other people are in jail for trying to protect the CCL.
