Pune: Fake Army officer booked for duping three of Rs 29 lakh promising jobs in Military Hospital

Pune: Three members of a family were duped of Rs 29 lakh on the promise of an army job. A case has been registered in the Khadki Police Station and investigation is underway.

According to the details, three members of a Kolhapur-based family have been cheated of Rs 29 lakh by promising jobs in the Indian Army. They were enticed with jobs in the Military Hospital in Khadki. The accused has been identified as Sandip Gurav. The Military Intelligence and the Khadki Police have booked him. An accomplice of the accused, Ashwini Patil, has been detained and being interrogated. Satappa Waghre lodged a complaint with the police in this regard.

Waghre works as a conductor in the MSRTC. He was introduced to Gurav by a friend in 2020. Waghre was told that Gurav was a retired army officer and knew officers at the high level. He could help youths get jobs in the Army. The complainant told him that his nephew was preparing for an Army recruitment. He requested Gurav to get his nephew a job.

Gurav asked Waghre to come along with his nephew to the Military Hospital. Three from the Waghre family met Gurav there. He told them that they would get jobs and demanded Rs 12 lakh each. Thus, he sought Rs 36 lakh from them for jobs. He also gave them some fake documents. The police are investigating whether Gurav had cheated more people also.
