Woman who had stolen gold biscuits worth Rs 2.6 crore, arrested in Kharghar

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune crime | A woman who had run away with five kg gold biscuits worth Rs 2 crore and 60 lakh after telling the shop owner that she will give them money kept in her car, has been arrested by the Faraskhana police in Kharghar. The accused has been identified as Madhvi Suraj Chavan (32), a resident of Kharghar. Rakesh Solanki has lodged a complaint at the Faraskhana police station. (Pune crime)

 

According to the police, Madhvi Chavan used to buy gold regularly from Popatlal Gold and sell it in Kharghar at a higher price. On Wednesday at 3 pm, Madhvi came to the Ravivar Peth shop of Popatlal Gold. She used to always buy half kg of gold. She told the shop owner that she will not be able to visit the shop regularly because she was pregnant and purchased 5 kg gold biscuits worth Rs two crore and 60 lakh. She said she will give some cash and the remaining amount through RTGS. She left the shop saying she was going to collect the money kept in the car. The complainant asked an employee to accompany her.

 

Chavan however went away by dodging the employee and she also switched off the mobile. Since Solanki had a doubt, he immediately approached the police. The police conducted a technical probe and found that she had reached Kharghar. A team of policemen went to Kharghar and arrested Madhvi Chavan.
