Pune Crime | Two private moneylenders arrested for fleecing man
Pune : NpNews24 Online Pune Crime | The Pune police are cracking down on private moneylenders and a team of unit 6 of crime branch has arrested two moneylenders, who used to give money on 40 pc interest per month, and used to harass those who used to take loans from them. They have been identified as Sharif Jamadar and Arshan Maniar. The accused had taken interest of Rs 17 lakh on a loan of Rs 3 lakh taken by the complainant’s husband.
A woman had submitted a complaint to unit 6 of the crime branch. The police have arrested two private money lenders under sections 452, 500, 504 and 506 of the IPC and sections 39 and 45 of the Maharashtra Lenders Act and filed an FIR against them at the Loni Kalbhor police station.
The complainant’s husband has a business of rearing goats and he had taken a loan of Rs 3 lakh from Jamadar and Maniar. The accused had given loan and were charging him an interest of 40 per cent per month. Her husband had paid an interest of Rs 17 lakh in a year. The accused had prepared a notarised agreement while giving the loan and had forced him to keep his house as mortgage.
Jamdar and Maniar were harassing the complainant’s husband to recover the interest. The complainant’s husband left the home and went away as he was fed up with constant harassment. Hence, the accused used to harass the complainant to recover the interest. The complaint says that the moneylenders asked the woman to vacate her house if she could not pay the interest. The police probed the matter and arrested two private moneylenders. A team of unit 6 of the crime branch is probing the case.
The action was taken by a team of police officials including PI Ganesh Mane, API Narendra Patil, policemen Machchindra Walke, Vitthal Khedkar, Kanifnath Karkhele, Nitin Mundhe, Ramesh Memane, Balasaheb Sakte, Nitin Shinde, Hrishikesh Tilekar, Shekhar Kate, Prateek Lahigude, Sachin Pawar, Hrishikesh Takwane, Nitin Dhadge, Jyoti Kale and Suhas Tambekar under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Srinivas Ghadge and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.
