Thieves decamp with ornaments worth Rs 1.23 crore from shop in Warje

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | Some thieves took a shop adjacent to a jeweller’s shop to start a business in spices in Warje Malwadi. When the jeweller’s shop was shut, the thieves drilled holes in the common wall and decamped with the jewellery on Friday in Warje. (Pune Crime)

 

The thieves have decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1 crore 23 lakh 75 thousand 280. Of them there are gold ornaments of 2,465 gms worth Rs 1 crore 23 lakh 5 thousand and silver ornaments of 500 gm worth Rs 70 thousand.

 

Anandkumar Chunilal Varma (34), a resident of Vardhaman Nagari, Karve Nagar has filed a complaint at the Warje police station. The incident happened at Mauli Jewellers shop located at Shamim Palace area at Ganpati Matha at Warje on NDA Road on Friday at 2.30 pm to 2.45 pm.

 

According to the police, the thieves had taken the shop adjacent to the jewellery shop on rent for starting a spices business. The work of making furniture was going on in the shop. Since a new shop was going to be started, no one suspected the thieves. On Friday, the jewellery shop was closed. The thieves took advantage of this and drilled holes in the common wall. They entered the jewellery shop and decamped with the ornaments.

 

When the owner of the jewellery shop opened the shop the next day, he realised that his shop had been robbed. After receiving the information, Senior PI of Warje police station Shankar Khatke, a team of the Crime Branch and local police officials visited the spot and started the search for the thieves.
