Sahakar Nagar police arrest gang of four committing thefts on PMPML buses

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | A gang of thieves stealing valuables of passengers travelling by PMPML buses has been arrested due to the alertness of a PMPML driver. The Sahakar Nagar police seized valuables worth over Rs 64,000 from the accused.

 

The action was taken on Saturday. The arrested have been identified as Akshay Datta Jadhav (22) of Mundhwa, Rahul Ishwar Siddhapur (27) of Mundhwa, Nila Sachin Gaikwad (33) of Mundhwa hailing from Ambarnath, Thane and Nanda Mahadev Gaikwad (37) of Mundhwa hailing from Solapur.

 

Shital Lahu Pangarkar (30), a resident of Dhankawadi, lodged a complaint at the Sahakar Nagar police station in this regard. According to the police, the complainant was travelling by a city bus from Hirabaug to Balajinagar. As the bus approached the Shankar Maharaj Muth, the accused pushed her and snatched her gold chain worth Rs 40,000 and also stole Rs 4,500 from her purse and tried to escape. The complainant and other co-passengers raised the alarm.

 

The driver of the bus heard the commotion inside the bus and immediately locked both the doors through the auto-lock system and took the bus to the Sahakar Nagar police station. The police checked the identity cards of 50-60 passengers in the bus and arrested the four accused. They seized the stolen gold chain, cash, four expensive cellphones, one cutter and a mobile pin, totally valued at Rs 64,500.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Addl CP Rajendra Dahale, DCP Sagar Patil, ACP Sushma Chavan, Senior PI Swati Desai and PI Yunus Mulani. A team comprising PSI Sudhir Ghadge, Anil Mane, police personnel Bapu Khutwad, Amol Gurav, Sopan Navadkar, Mahadev Nale, Bhujang Ingale, Sushant Pharande, Mahesh Mandlik, Sagar Shinde, Pradip Bediskar, Sagar Sutkar, Shiva Khed, Surekha Anpat and Manisha Karande took part in the action.
