Pune Crime | Pune police arrest an imposter from Shivajinagar involved in 22 offences in Haryana, Delhi

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | An imposter pretending to be a customs officer has been arrested by the Pune police. He is involved in 22 offences registered in Haryana and Delhi. He was living in disguise in Shivajinagar.

 

The Shivajinagar police held him. He has been identified as Jafar Alikhan Irani (30), a resident of Shivajinagar. He was arrested by the Haryana police in a 45-lakh gold heist. He escaped by hypnotising the police. Seven policemen were suspended holding them responsible for his escape. The Haryana police were on his trail.

 

Officers and personnel from the Shivajinagar police station were patrolling near the Shivajinagar police station on Sunday. They spotted a person trying to run away after coming across them. He was running towards Vishnukrupa Nagar, where there is an Iranian colony.

 

The police arrested him after a chase. After a sustained interrogation, he told the police that he was arrested by the Kondhwa police and was out on bail. He is also an accused in an offence registered at the Shrigonda police station.

 

The police found in an in-depth inquiry that he is a ‘most wanted’ criminal and was involved in 22 offences registered in Haryana and Delhi. He had stolen 1-kg gold valued at Rs 45 lakh in Hisar, Haryana. He was arrested in the case. Later, he escaped by hypnotising the policemen on duty.

 

Jafar Irani has been handed over to the Shrigonda police.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of DCP Priyanka Narnaware and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar. Senior PI Anita More, PI Vikram Goud, API Uttam Mane, PSI Bhairavnath Shelke, police personnel Vinod Mahagade, Vijay Pankar, Shabir Sayyad, Rahul Holkar, Aniket Bhingare, Avinash Punde, Dnyanesh Mane and Amol Kolhe took part in the action.
