Pune cyber police arrest mastermind in Rs 60 lakh friendship club fraud case
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime | The Pune cyber police have arrested the mastermind in a cheating case wherein a 76-year-old businessman was duped of Rs 60 lakh after being promised of supply of sophisticated women for sex.
The accused used to promise jobs to women and collect their documents to procure SIM cards in their name and open their bank accounts which were being used by him, a probe has revealed.
The accused has been identified as Anup Suklal Manore (35), a resident of Nyati Evara, near Corinithian Club. He was using an alias of Ganesh Shelar to cheat people.
A businessman had lodged a complaint with the cyber police. He saw an advertisement of Minakshi Friendship Club and contacted the given number. He was told that the club was for having sex with rich and high profile women and he will get lot of money. He transferred Rs 2 lakh to the club’s account as security fee for getting acquainted with rich women. Later, he was told to transfer various amounts of money on different occasions and was cheated of Rs 60 lakh 20 thousand.
After a complaint was lodged at the cyber police station, the police examined the bank account used by the accused and carried out a technical analysis. They came to know that the accused was staying in Wanawadi. A search was carried out and Deepali Kailash Shinde was arrested.
Shinde used to tell people on the phone that rich, high profile women will be supplied for having sex and was using her own bank account to accept the money being paid by the victims. The police zeroed in on the main culprit with the help of Shinde. The police came to know that Anup Manore was the mastermind of the fraud and arrested him.
The action was taken by a team of police officials including senior police inspector DS Hake, police inspector Sangeeta Mali, PSI Sagar Padwal, havaldar Aslam Attar, Rahul Handal, Ankita Ragho and Shirish Gawde under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Additional CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Bhagyashree Navtake and ACP Vijaykumar Palsule.
