Police fire in the air as thieves hurl stones at them in Market Yard area
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime | The police fired in the air in self-defence as the thieves involved in a house break-in theft pelted stones at them. The incident took place at Chaphalkar Colony on Pune-Satara road in the wee hours on Wednesday. (Pune Crime)
According to the police, Chaphalkar Colony is located behind City Pride multiplex on Pune-Satara road. The thieves entered Sania Apartment in the colony to break into a house for stealing valuables. The security guard woke up as he heard noise on the third floor of the building. He suspected a theft. Hence, he informed the police control room.
The beat marshals patrolling in the area rushed to the spot. The thieves were getting out of the building. When they saw the cops, they hurled a knife at them. They also started hurling stones at them. The beat marshal fired in the air in self-defence. The thieves then escaped towards a nearby brook.
More police personnel were dispatched to the spot after learning about the incident. The police are searching for the culprits. An offence has been registered at the Market Yard police station.
