Member of Nilesh Ghaiwal gang and gang leader Rohit Akhade and his gang slapped with MCOCA; 92th action by CP Amitabh Gupta
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime | Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has taken action against Rohit Vitthal Akhade, a gang leader and a member of notorious Nilesh Ghaiwal gang and three of his aides, under MCOCA. The accused are criminals on the police records and a case is registered against them at the Shivajinagar police station for demanding an extortion amount of Rs 60 lakh after threatening a man with a pistol. CP Gupta has taken action against 92 criminal gangs so far and 29 gangs this year under the MCOCA. (Pune Crime)
Gang leader Rohit Vitthal Akhade (26), a resident of Shastri Nagar, Kothrud, Akash Suresh Kandhare (23), a resident of Mulshi taluka, Sanket Kailas Dhaije (26), a resident of Gokhale Nagar have been arrested in the extortion case and their aide Suraj Kurhade, a resident of Pune is missing. Action against all of them has been taken under MCOCA.
The accused are members of the gang led by dreaded gangster Nilesh Ghaiwal and various cases like attempted murder, extortion, creating terror, possessing pistol and fighting are registered against them. Preventive action had been taken against the gang but there was no improvement in their behaviour.
In the case registered at the Shivajinagar police station, the accused took the complainant to Kondhavale Belavade to show some agricultural land. The accused, after taking the complainant to that place, did not show any land and Rohit Akhade pointed a pistol at the complainant’s head and said he had been given a contract to kill him. Akhade warned him that he would have to pay Rs 60 lakh if he wanted to live. The complainant paid the money and rescued himself. The accused also took Rs 50,000 from him. Based on the complaint lodged by the complainant, the police have filed a complaint under sections 384, 385, 386, 387 of the IPC and section of 34 Arms Act.
Senior PI Ganesh Mane of crime branch unit 6 prepared a proposal of seeking action against the accused under MCOCA and sent it to Addl CP Ramnath Pokale through DCP Srinivas Ghadge. Since Pokale approved the proposal, an action against the accused under MCOCA was taken.
ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar is carrying out further investigation.
The action was taken by a team of police officials including Senior PI Ganesh Mane, API Narendra Patil, PSI Bhairavnath Shelke, PSI Shankar Patil, policemen Machchindra Walke, Pujari, Khedkar, Memane, Sakte, Karkhele, Lahigude, Takwane, Pawar, Kate, Tilekar, Ghadge, Tambekar and Kale under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Srinivas Ghadge and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.
