Gutkha worth Rs 35 lakh seized, 3 held

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | The anti narcotics cell of the Pune Crime Branch carried out a raid and seized a huge consignment of gutkha worth Rs 35 lakh and arrested three people. The action was taken at Vadachivadi in the jurisdiction of Kondhwa police station on March 1.

 

The accused have been identified as Sureshkumar Pomaram Bhati (36), Suresh Pokhraj Solanke (32), both residents of lane number 3, Shivshambhonagar, Kakde Vasti, Kondhwa Khurd, Pune and Vikram Mistrilal Rao (34), a resident of Vadarvasti, Alandi Road, Vishrantwadi, Pune. An FIR has been filed against the accused at the Kondhwa police station.

 

A team of the anti-narcotics cell led by PI Vinayak Gaikwad was on patrolling duty when he came to know that a huge consignment of gutkha has keen kept for sale at Vadachivadi in the jurisdiction of Kondhwa police station. They also came to know that the consignment was going to be shifted. They carried out a raid at Vadachivadi and arrested three persons. The police seized gutkha worth Rs 34 lakh and 83 thousand 200 from the godown and the vehicle.

 

The action was taken by a team of police officers including PI Vinayak Gaikwad, API Laxman Dhengle, policemen Sujit Wadekar, Sandip Jadhav, Rahul Joshi, Manoj Salunke, Vishal Dalvi, Pandurang Pawar, Pravin Uttekar, Vishal Shinde, Sandesh Kakde, Rehana Shaikh, Nitesh Jadhav and Yogesh Mohite under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Jt CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Srinivas Ghadge and ACP Gajanan Tompe.
