Pune Crime | Gang of criminals arrested for planning to rob mobile store in Fursungi

Pune : NpNews24 Online   – Pune Crime |  The team of unit five of the crime branch arrested a gang of criminals who were about to rob a mobile shop in Fursungi. One of them is an externed criminal. The Hadapsar police have arrested Shivraj alias Suraj Arjun Wadekar, Santosh Raju Gaikwad, Datta Ganesh Gaikwad, Avinash alias Charlie Sidram Jadhav and Lakhan Subhash Jadhav.

Police Havaldar Ajay Gaikwad has filed a complaint at the Hadapsar police station against Shivraj alias Suraj Arjun Wadekar (24), Santosh Raju Gaikwad (26), Datta Ganesh Gaikwad, Avinash alias Charlie Sidram Jadhav (29), Lakhan Subhash Jadhav (30), all residents of Mundhwa. The gang used to primarily target women traveling in PMPML buses and steal their purses and ornaments. They used to stop pedestrians and steal their mobiles. Avinash Jadhav is a notorious criminal who had been externed. The gang members had been arrested in October 2021 when they were planning a robbery. They again started committing robberies after being released on bail.

According to the police, a team of unit 5 of the crime branch was patrolling on Monday night and they saw that some people had gathered below the Fursungi overbridge on the Pune-Saswad Road. The police surrounded them and arrested them. When they were searched, the police found sickles, screw driver, chilli powder, nylon rope and other equipment. When they were questioned, they admitted being notorious criminals. They were planning to rob a mobile store located nearby before it closed for the day.

Police Havaldar Ajay Gaikwad has filed a complaint at the Hadapsar police station and API Lonare is investigating the case.
