Gambling den of Amol Andekar raided in Guruwar Peth; action against 23 people, goods worth Rs 2.75 lakh seized

Action was taken against those indulging in gambling by sitting in the shed and on motorcycles. A case has been registered against 23 people. Goods worth Rs 2 lakh 75 thousand 420 including four motorcycles have been seized from them.
The gambling den was owned by Amol Balasaheb Andekar (45), a resident of Guruwar Peth, Manoj Dhawre, a resident of Padmavati, Shakeel Shaikh, a resident of Mominpura and Ravindra Rambhau Pawar, a resident of Raviwar Peth.
Action has been taken against writers Richard Anthony Dsouza, a resident of Guruwar Peth, Umesh Nanaji Choudhary, a resident of Guruwar Peth, Rajesh Madhukar Shelke, a resident of Yerawada, Shantanu Vijay Pandit, a resident of Sadashiv Peth, Gajanan Ram Mahadik, a resident of Guruwar Peth, Parshuram Bhikaji Kamble, a resident of Nana Peth, Harshal Sunil Chitte, a resident of Raviwar Peth, Sanjay Ganpat Renuse, a resident of Guruwar Peth, Sanjay Sitaram Memane, a resident of Raviwar Peth, Tanvir Amir Shaikh, a resident of Bhavani Peth, Nazir Hussain Momin, a resident of Shukrawar Peth, Hussain Jaffar Kotalia, a resident of Ghorpade Peth, Sunil Chandrakant Parkhe, a resident of Shukrawar Peth and Mohammad Fayum Jamir Ahmed Attar, a resident of Kothrud.
Senior PI of SSC Rajesh Puranik had received information that gambling was taking place in a tin shed behind Sofawala building near Phulwala Chowk in Gouri Ali in Guruwar Peth. Accordingly, a police team and three probationary PSIs raided the place at 8.30 pm. Five people ran away and 14 people were arrested.
Goods worth Rs 2 lakh 75 thousand 420 including cash of Rs 8 thousand 920, 13 mobiles worth Rs 60,500, gambling equipment and four motorcycles were seized.
Senior PI Rajesh Puranik, PSI Supriya Pandharkar, constable Mohite, Shinde, Irfan Pathan and Kamble took the action under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale and DCP Srinivas Ghadge.
