Pune Crime | Four, including sarpanch, booked for assaulting former sarpanch at gram sabha in Mulshi taluka, two held
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime | An incumbent sarpanch, along with his accomplices, attacked the former sarpanch at a gram sabha (village meeting) for seeking proceedings of the previous gram sabha. They used a sickle and a knife in the assault. The van carrying the injured to hospital was also attacked. The incident took place at Vegare village in Mulshi taluka at around 12.30 pm on Friday.
The Paud police under the Pune rural police have booked the sarpanch, three others and arrested the sarpanch and one more accused. Among the arrested are sarpanch Minath Maruti Kangude (37) and Abhishek Dattatraya Kangude (21), both residents of Vegare, Mulshi.
Bhau Pandurang Margale (37), a resident of Vegre village, lodged a complaint at the Paud police station (cr. reg. no. 156/22). An offence of attempt to murder has been registered.
According to the details given by the police, the gram sabha of Vegare village was held at the zilla parishad school on Friday. Former sarpanch Bhau Margale demanded the proceedings of the previous gram sabha and sought details about a housing project for the poor. Sarpanch Minath Kangude told him that he was chairing the meeting and no one was allowed to speak without his permission. Then he walked out and came back with a wooden staff. He charged at Rajendra Gund when Bhau Margale intervened. Then he attacked Margale with the wooden staff. He shouted at his accomplices and told them that they should kill and bury Margale there. Abhishek and Munna Polekar attacked him. Minath Kangude then took a sickle from Abhishek and attacked Margale again.
Others rushed the injured to hospital in the van, which was also attacked. They chased the van and attacked it again. The Paud police rushed to the spot after learning about the incident. The sarpanch and one more person has been arrested. PSI Jadhav is investigating.
