Pune Crime | Driver rapes girl in bus in Pune
Pune : NpNews24 Online –A driver asked a couple to sleep in his bus instead of sleeping at the Swargate bus stand. When the husband went to answer the nature’s call, the driver raped his wife in the bus.
After the Swargate police came to know about the incident, they arrested him in a couple of hours. The accused has been identified as Navnath Shivaji Bhong (38), a resident of Vadapuri, Indapur taluka.
A 21-year-old girl, a resident of Malegaon in Washim district, has lodged a complaint at the Swargate police station.
According to the police, the complainant and her husband had come to Pune. They were looking for a room to stay. They were passing by the Swargate ST stand at 11.30 pm on Saturday. Navnath Bhonge, who was waiting on the road, enquired about them. They told him that they were looking for a place to stay and were going to the ST stand to sleep. The driver told them to sleep in his bus. At 3.30 am, her husband wanted to answer nature’s call and the driver took him to the toilet at the ST stand. Bhong came from the stand to the bus. He started the bus and took it to a distant place. He stopped the bus in a corner and raped the girl twice.
He pushed the girl out of the bus and went away with the bus. Since the girl’s husband did not find the bus, he started searching for it. After some time, he came across his wife. She informed her husband about the crime committed by Bhong. They went to the Swargate police station at 5 am and informed the police about the incident.
All police officials had gone home after completing the combing operation. Senior PI Ashok Indalkar formed two squads to trace the accused. They saw the number 66 in the CCTV footage. The police started searching for the bus. They saw that a bus was moving suspiciously on Satara Road. They tried to stop the bus but it did not stop.
The police started chasing the bus. The bus stopped at Bibvewadi. The driver started running away after abandoning the bus. The police caught him after a chase. The driver was taking passengers to Karnataka. The swift action by the Swargate police led to his arrest.
Senior PI Ashok Indalkar is investigating the case.
