Bund Garden police arrest two from Goa for hijacking SUV car

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | The Bund Garden police have arrested two persons from Goa, who had rented a car and escaped to Goa. The accused had given fake identities and addresses while booking the car.

 

The incident came to light on January 19. The arrested have been identified as Hamid Bawar alias Chhedi Khan (40) and Avinash Kumar Premchand Yadav (40), both residents of Goa.

 

Machchindra Vishwanath Darade, a resident of Kothrud, lodged a complaint with the Bund Garden police in this regard. According to the police, the complainant has a business of ‘self-drive’. He has launched a website www. simpledrive . in for this business. A man identifying as Vatsal Patel contacted him on January 14 and ordered a seven-seater car on rent.

 

Later, he paid a security deposit of Rs 7,000 and fixed a rent of Rs 12,000 per day till January 19. An SUV car (MH12PZ8326) was handed over to Vatsal Patil from Gujarat and his friend Shrihari Jijesh from Kerala. Since the car was not returned even after the due date till January 24, the company dialled the contact number given while booking the car. However, the number was switched off. The complainant then approached the police.

 

The Bund Garden police took a serious note of this and tracked the mobile number given by the accused. They came to know that the accused were in Goa. A police team visited Goa and arrested them. It was then revealed that the accused had given fake names and addresses while booking the car.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Addl CP Rajendra Dahale, DCP Sagar Patil, ACP Yashwant Gawari, Senior PI Pratap Mankar and PI Ashwini Satpute. A team comprising PSI Rahul Pawar, police personnel Sudhir Ghotkule, Sagar Ghorpade, Sachin Bhingardive and Kiran Talekar took the action.
