Big hotelier among 7 held in raids at hookah parlours, including Botanica, Mash, Roof Top Village, Sufis, Jashn, Cyclon

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | The Social Security Department of Pune Police conducted raids at hotels, bars and restaurants in the city that started on Sunday night and continued till dawn. Offences were registered against seven people at the Sahakar Nagar police station under section 33 of the Maharashtra Police Act. (Pune Crime)

 

The accused have been identified as Ketan Kisan Tapkir (26), Kunal Kisan Tapkir (29), Abhishek Dattatraya Jagtap (22) and four other hookah service providers. These hotels, hookah parlours hosted hookah parties on their premises till the wee hours, which was likely to cause law and order issues. Hence, the Social Security Cell was directed to conduct the raids. Hotels, bars were instructed to conduct their business as per the rules on May Day, Maharashtra Day and Ramzan Eid.

 

The special drive was conducted by the newly recruited probationary police sub-inspectors (PSIs) and the officers and personnel of the Anti-Narcotics Cell. Among the commercial establishment, against whom the action was taken, include Botanica under the Bund Garden police station, Mash and Roof Top Village under the Kondhwa police station, Jashn and Sufis under the Wanawadi police station and Café Cyclon under the Sahakar Nagar police station.

 

The action was taken against the bars and hotels violating the guidelines issued by the police. Café Cyclon at Saraswati Complex in Dhankawadi was providing services well beyond 2.20 am. Rs 47,500 worth valuables were seized and its owners Ketan Tapkir, Kunal Tapkir, its manager Abhishek Jagtap and four others were booked.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale and DCP Srinivas Ghadge. Senior PI Rajesh Puranik, NSG API Laxman Dengle, PSI Supriya Pandharkar, 10 probationary PSIs, Social Security Cell, Anti-Narcotics Cell squad 1 personnel jointly took the action.
