Bibvewadi police rescue a kidnapped 5-year-old boy within three hours, arrest culprit

Pune : NpNews24 Online Pune Crime | A five-year-old boy was kidnapped while he was playing near his house within the jurisdiction of Bibvewadi police station. The police rescued the boy safely within three hours after they were informed about the incident. They have also arrested the culprit.

 

The kidnapping took place at around 7.45 pm on February 2 in Upper Indira Nagar. Jyoti Dhanraj Salunkhe, a resident of Bibvewadi, lodged a complaint in this connection. Swapnil Ramesh Shinde has been arrested.

 

According to the police, Shinde kidnapped Salunkhe’s son Niraj on a two-wheeler with an intention to kill him. Police officers and personnel rushed to the spot after learning about it. They checked CCTV footage in the area to track the culprit. Four teams were formed and they searched for the child in Bibvewadi, Market Yard and Swargate areas. Meanwhile, the police also inquired about Shinde with his family members and friends on the basis of technical analysis.

 

While searching for the child, the police were checking vehicles parked in darkness near Kakade Vasti. PI Anita Hivarkar, police personnel Devakate and Deshmane spotted the accused sitting in an auto-rickshaw with the child. They got hold of the child and the culprit.

 

Primary investigation revealed that Shinde had a fight with his mother and was angry with her. Hence, he kidnapped her son. The woman works in a mall and is a single mother. The accused kept a watch on the child from afternoon and then offered a chocolate and kidnapped him. API Pravin Kalukhe is investigating further.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Addl CP Namdeo Chavan, DCP Namrata Patil and ACP Rajendra Galande. A team comprising Senior PI Sunil Jhaware, PI Anita Hivarkar, API Pravin Kalukhe and other members took the action.
