ATS arrests a drug smuggler in Maldhakka area, seize drugs worth Rs 12 lakh

Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime | The State Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested a drug smuggler, who came from Mumbai, at Maldhakka area near Pune railway station. Mephedrone (MD) weighing 118 gm worth Rs 12 lakh was seized from his possession. (Pune Crime)
The arrested has been identified as Mohammad Farooq Mohammad Umar Tak (43), a resident of Andheri, Mumbai, hailing from Rajasthan. He was carrying the drug, a mobile, a digital weighing machine, Rs 2,590, an Aadhar card and a debit card, which have been confiscated. The police are searching for his two accomplices.
According to the ATS, they got a tip-off that a person would come to sell the contraband on the footpath of the stretch of road between Maldhakka and the railway station. The ATS, Pune unit, laid a trap. The police spotted a youth carrying a rucksack loitering on the road. The police in plainclothes caught him. He was frisked and found in possession of 118-gm MD.
Police constable Ashok Farooq Pernekar lodged a complaint at the ATS police station in Mumbai. PI Vishwas Bhaskar is investigating.
