Pune Crime | Action taken against gang which committed nine robberies in a single day under MCOCA; 80th action taken

Pune : NpNews24 Online Pune Crime | To control the crime and maintain law and order, Pune Police commissioner Amitabh Gupta has taken action against 80 criminal gangs so far and sent the criminals to jails. A gang of criminals which carried out nine robberies on a single day in the limits of Hadapsar, Kondhwa, Chandan Nagar police stations has been slapped with MCOCA by Police Chief Amitabh Gupta. The police chief has acted against 80 gangs so far and 17 gangs this year.

 

Action has been taken against Omkar Vinod Masal alias Salim Shaikh (22), a resident of Juna Bazaar, Mangalwar Peth, Pune, Ashish alias Guddu Ravindra Chavan (23), a resident of near Shine Bakery, Ramtekdi, Hadapsar under the provisions of MCOCA.

 

The accused had stopped the complainant on May 5 on Pune-Solapur road opposite Akashwani and had snatched the mobile and cash forcefully after threatening him with a knife. The complainant was assaulted with a knife and was seriously injured. The complainant had lodged a complaint at the Hadapsar police station against two unknown persons riding a Dio scooter. The police probed the matter and arrested them.

 

Omkar Vinod Masal alias Harshad Salim Shaikh is a notorious criminal. Sixteen cases are registered against him at Wanawadi, Hadapsar, Lonikand, Mundhwa, Khadak, Faraskhana, Market Yard, Jamkhed, Ahmednagar police stations.

 

It was established that the criminals had carried out various crimes to maintain their supremacy. A proposal to take action against the gang under MCOCA was sent to Addl CP Namdev Chavan. The proposal was approved by Chavan. Accordingly, in the case registered at Hadapsar police station, apart from sections 394.34 of the IPC and sections 37(1) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, provisions of MCOCA have also been added.

 

Further investigation is being carried out by ACP Bajrang Desai.

 

Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta after taking charge of Pune police, has taken strict measures to control the criminal gangs. He is taking action against these gangs under the provisions of MCOCA. Under his guidance, action under MCOCA has been taken against 80 gangs so far and 17 gangs in this year.

 

The action was taken by a team of police officials Senior PI Arvind Gokule, PI Digambar Shinde, PI Vishwas Dagle, PSI Sachin Gadekar, policemen Pravin Shinde, Babsaheb Shinde and Girish Ekorge under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Namdev Chavan, DCP Namrata Patil and ACP Bajrang Desai.
