Pune Crime | 147 juvenile delinquents were involved in 123 offences in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri : NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime | Involvement of minors in crimes has become a matter of concern. These children are seen carrying weapons when they are supposed to visit a playground or classes. Some of them are drawn towards crimes due to weak financial conditions while some others want to make quick bucks and have fun.

They go to any extent to prove one-upmanship. If they get caught after committing an offence, they admit to it so that their name comes on police records. Thus, they become ‘famous’ in their area.

The number of juvenile delinquents and the type of offences, their count and the number of delinquents involved (into brackets) are given below.

Murder – 8 (11)

Attempt to murder – 15 (30)

Rape – 8 (9)

Vehicle theft: 43 (40, 1 girl)

Theft – 20 (16, 1 girl)

Dacoity / robbery – 29 (41)

164 rape cases in 2021

According to the Pimpri Chinchwad police, 164 rape cases took place in 2021 within their jurisdiction. In most cases, culprits were either relatives or acquaintances of victims. Domestic violence cases also increased last year. Many women committed suicide as they were fed up with psychological and physical torture by in-laws and their husband.
