Pune: Civic body to extend property tax concession to remaining properties by conducting a survey

Pune: Many property owners have been issued property bills without the 40 pc concession. Therefore, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will now conduct a survey of properties in the city. Civic workers will visit the 3.72 lakh properties deprived of the benefit and get the PT3 form filled for the purpose.

Those property holders who are occupying it have been getting the concession since 1970. However, the State Government cancelled the rebate and started recovering 100 pc tax from 2019. In the first phase, the concession was cancelled for those who have two flats.

The PMC started recovering 100 pc tax from properties registered from 2019. Properties in the merged villages in 2021 were also issued the 100 pc bill. This led to a high increase in the tax bill. Citizens protested the decision.

The government cancelled its decision and implemented the 40-pc concession again. However, there was some confusion in its implementation. Many property owners have been deprived of the benefit.

Now, the PMC has decided to survey the properties, which have not got the concession. On an experimental basis, properties were surveyed in the Sinhagad Road area and the 40-pc rebate was granted to them. Similarly, such properties will be searched in city areas. This was revealed by the civic administration.

Proof for the concession

*Proof of residence: Gas connection, Aadhaar Card, Voter’s ID card, Passport, Driving Licence, society’s NOC; any two of these documents

*Deposit the proof with civic workers conducting the survey or at the Citizens Facilitation Centre

The ground reality

*The 40-pc rebate in property tax was cancelled for 96,122 properties after a GIS survey conducted in 2018

*The concession was also not granted to over 1.98 lakh properties registered after April 1, 2019

*The rebate is also not applicable to over 1.68 lakh properties in the newly merged villages

*Over 4.63 lakh properties were deprived of the concession, out of which 90,749 owners submitted the PT3 form to avail the concession

*Over 3.72 lakh property owners have still not applied for the concession. Therefore, the PMC will conduct the survey by visiting the properties
