Pune: The Cantonment Court from the British Era will be shifted to the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Mahatma Phule Sanskrutik Bhavan in Wanawadi. Its current premises have become very old and there is a shortage of space too.

This is a temporary arrangement. The court will start functioning on its new premises from Thursday morning. Chief District Judge Mahendra Mahajan and Pune Bar Association President Adv Santosh Khamkar will grace the occasion.

The Cantonment Court has been functioning since the British Era. There has been a demand for its new premises for the past few years. However, it will be temporarily shifted to Wanawadi due to non-availability of new space.

It functions under the Pune District Court. Cases from the Hadapsar, Lashkar, Wanawadi, Kondhwa and Mundhwa police stations are heard in this court. Around 30,000 cases are pending in it.
