Pune: Cane-cutting labour contractor kidnapped, five held within three hours of the incident in Hadapsar

Pune: A sugarcane-cutting labour contractor was kidnapped in Hadapsar on Saturday evening. The Hadapsar Police booked five people in this case and arrested them within three hours of the incident.

The kidnapping took place at around 5.15 pm on Saturday near Mantri Market in Hadapsar.

The kidnapped contractor has been identified as Rajendra Chavan. The arrested accused are Mithun Kisan Rathod, a resident of Hadapsar, Vikram Lalu Jadhav, a resident of Latur district, Ajit Vynakat Patil, Ankush Dhondiram Mohite, a resident of Nilanga taluka and Dnyanoba Baliram Waghmare, a resident of Dharashiv district. They have been booked under sections 367, 34 of the IPC. Surekha Rajendra Chavan (37), a resident of Manjari, lodged a complaint at the Hadapsar Police Station.

The police checked the CCTV footage from the area, where the incident happened and identified a car (MH01AC0078). They traced the trail of the car through technical analysis. API Arjun Kudale alerted the Indapur Police and detained the accused. The car used in the crime has been impounded.

PSI Hassan Mulani is investigating the matter under the guidance of Sr PI Rajendra Pandhare.
