Pune-based mastermind involved in drug smuggling and youth arrested by crime branch
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime | A youth who had come to Pune from Rajasthan to sell opium has been arrested by a team of unit one of Pune police crime branch. The action was taken by the police on Saturday (July 16) at Hirabaug Chowk on Tilak Road. Goods worth Rs 8 lakh 50 thousand including 2 kg 768 gm opium, mobile and cash were seized from the accused. The police questioned him in detail and arrested him. (Pune Crime)
The accused has been identified as Raju Pratapram Gurjar (22), a resident of Janwadi, Gokhale Nagar but hailing from Rajasthan. An FIR under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Khadak police station.
The crime branch officials came to know that Raju Gurjar was going to arrive at Hirabaug Chowk to sell opium. The police laid a trap and arrested him. When his bag was checked, the police found opium. The police were probing from where he had procured the drug and to whom he was going to sell it and who are his aides when he informed about the mastermind in Pune and his aide. The police laid a trap at Kalepadal in Hadapsar and nabbed the mastermind in Pune, Umed Devasi. When he was questioned, he admitted procuring the drug from Rajasthan. The court has sent him to police custody till July 25.
The action was taken by a team of police officials including senior PI Sandeep Bhosale, PSI Sanjay Gaikwad, PSI Sunil Kulkarni, PSI Ajay Jadhav, policemen Mahesh Bamgude, Ayaz Daddikar, Nilesh Sable, Shubham Desai, Amol Pawar and Imran Shaikh under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Srinivas Ghadge and ACP Gajanan Tompe.
