Pune: Action against bootleggers in Wagholi area, five booked

Pune: The Lonikand Police took action against country liquor manufacturing units along a brook at Wadegaon near Wagholi. They seized a stock of material used in making the brew and destroyed it.

Five persons have been booked in action at different locations in the Wagholi area.

The units were destroyed with the help of excavator machines. Chemicals meant to produce 38,000 litres of country liquor amounting to Rs 16 lakh was stored there. The Crime Branch Unit 3 confiscated liquor worth Rs 2.70 lakh.

One person has been booked at Wadegaon while the Crime Branch Unit 6 booked three bootleggers in the Bakori Road area. They were vending country liquor in tin sheds near Dream Sankalp, Ivy Estate housing societies. Country liquor was also found in a car. The Loni Kand Police acted against another vendor in the Chhokhi Dhani area.

Sr PI Savalaram Salgaonkar, API Chetan Thorbole and PI Ulhas Kadam led the action.
