PSI, constable arrested red handed while accepting bribe in Sindhudurg district

SINDHUDURG : NpNews24 Online  – ACB Trap On PSI And Police Havaldar |  A PSI and a constable from Vaibhavwadi police station of the Sindhudurg police have landed in the ACB net for accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 out of ₹30,000 after initially demanding ₹40,000 after threatening to implicate a complainant in a rape case. The accused have been identified as PSI Suraj Shivaji Patil (31) and constable Maruti Santram Sakhre (36). However, the incident has created a flutter in the police department. A complaint had been registered at the Vaibhavwadi police station regarding a beating up of a person over a financial dispute. During the questioning, PSI Suraj Patil and constable Maruti Sakhre threatened the complainant that he will be implicated in a rape case and demanded a bribe of ₹40,000.

 

As a compromise, they agreed to accept ₹30,000. Meanwhile, since the complainant did not want to pay a bribe, he lodged a complaint with the ACB. The complaint was verified. The duo accepted ₹20,000 in the presence of panches and they were arrested red handed.

 

PI Shivaji Patil of ACB, policemen Papya Revankar, Nilesh Parab, Ravikant Palkar, Jitendra Pednekar, Ajit Khande, Prathamesh Potnis, Bhargav Pale and Kanchan Prabhu took the action.
