Provisions for Pune in Interim State Budget

Pune: State Finance Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday presented the Interim State Budget, in which special allocation has been made for Pune Metro.

The Metro routes’ length will be increased while more routes will be opened for operations. Moreover, students will get employment opportunities through job-centric schemes. Besides these, there is no concrete provision for Pune in the budget.

Funds will be provided for a multipurpose auditorium on the premises of the BJ Medical College, Pune.

The Tribal Research and Training Institute, Dr Babasaheb Research and Training Institute (Barti), Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research and Training Institute (Sarthi) and Academy of Maharashtra Research, Upliftment and Training (Amrut) will impart job-oriented skills to over 2.51 lakh students. Over 52,000 of them will get employment opportunities.

A centre of excellence will be set up at the ITI, Avasari Khurd, Pune. It will help provide quality education in technical education. To achieve the clean and green energy aim, Rs 4,200 crore has been allocated to government lift irrigation schemes, including Janai-Shirsai scheme in Purandar taluka, to run them on solar energy. This will help the schemes to run at their capacities.

Three forts in Pune district

A proposal to nominate 12 forts dating back to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj era as the World Heritage Sites will be sent to Unesco. They include the three forts in the district – Shivneri, Lohagad and Rajgad. A special allocation will be made for the world-famous Ganesh Festival in Pune.

Pune Metro facility for more citizens

Increasing the length of Pune Metro routes has been approved. More routes will be thrown open to public this year. Currently, it is running on specific routes. Therefore, Puneites are not able to avail the facility properly.
