Properties of Gandhi-Nehru Family in Haryana to be Investigated

The Haryana government has ordered an inquiry into the assets of the Gandhi-Nehru family. On behalf of the Chief Secretary of the State, Keshani Anand Arora has ordered the Urban Local Bodies Department of Haryana to examine the properties.

The scrutiny is on allotment of an institutional plot in Gurugram for setting up an hospital, alleged re-allotment of an institutional plot in the name of Associated Journals Limited and certain sale deeds involving Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra. The recent orders from chief secretary Keshni Anand Arora to the additional chief secretaries are consequent to the communication from the Union government regarding probe into foreign contributions received by the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust. Two other trusts named are Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.

The trusts linked to the Nehru-Gandhi family had acquired assets in Haryana between 2004 and 2014, when Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led government was in power.
