Policeman caught taking Rs 25,000 bribe behind court building

A policeman was caught red-handed on Wednesday while accepting bribe of Rs 25,000 from brother of an accused in theft case to ‘help’ him.

After getting complaint, sleuths from the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) laid a trap and caught Police Naik Sunildutt Ramchanrda Bansode (42) of Vairag police station, while accepting the bribe money opposite a public urinal behind the court building in Barshi.

According to ACB, the complainant’s brother and few others are accused in a theft case which is being investigated by Bansode. A truck has been seized in the case. In order to file his report in court in favor of the accused and to help him in future, the accused demanded Rs 25,000 bribe.

The ACB team under supervision of DYSP Arun Deokar and Police inspector Jagdish Bhopale laid a trap and nabbed Bansode around 5 pm on Wednesday. Police inspector Kavita Musale is further investigating the case.
