Police raid gambling dens at Loni Kalbhor, Hadapsar-Fursungi; 12 arrested
Pune : NpNews24 Online The team of the social security cell of the crime branch raided the gambling dens at Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar and arrested 12 people. However, the police could not arrest those who were operating the gambling dens.
The social security cell came to know that gambling was going on in a tin shed near Hotel Yashkiran in the limits of Loni Kalbhor police station. The cell raided the place on Thursday at 8 pm. The police apprehended three writers and three players.
The gambling den was being operated by Yuvraj. Santosh Baban Takle (29), a resident of Handewadi Chowk, Shamshuddin Mainuddin Sheikh (57), a resident of Kondhwa, Mohan Nagnath Potu (33), a resident of Handewadi are the writers and Ajay Hiraman Chavan (26), a resident of Shewalewadi, Laxman Janu Rathod (48), a resident of Handewadi, Ismail Mohammad Shaikh (57), a resident of Ghorpadi are the players. Cash of Rs 3,300, gambling equipment and six mobiles were seized from them and they were arrested.
The social security cell had got the information that gambling was taking place in a tin shed near the statue of Shivaji Maharaj in Fursungi village in the limit of Hadapsar police station. A raid was conducted at 5 pm on Thursday. The den was being operated by Dadasaheb Tupe, a resident of Fursungi.
At this gambling joint, Praful Mohan Kamthe (35), a resident of Chambli, Saswad, Purandar taluka, Kiran Bhairu Chavan (29), a resident of Harple Vasti, were the writers and Deepak Lalan Nisad (25), a resident of Kondhwa, Vilas Sharnappa Chowgule (48), a resident of Fursungi, Prakash Tanaji Harple (33), a resident of Fursungi, Bhima Kisan Kadam (60), a resident of Fursungi were indulging in gambling. The police have seized cash of Rs 6,690, gambling equipment and six mobiles totalling Rs 19,690 from them.
The action was taken by Senior PI Rajesh Puranik, PSI Supriya Pandharkar and policemen of the social security cell under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale and DCP Srinivas Ghadge.
