Police initiatives for resolving citizens’ complaints! Pune Police ‘SEVA’ project; Direct follow-up by officers

PUNE: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- People who have complained to the police station are suffering from bad experiences. Most of the times, they do not even know what happens next. As a solution to this, the Pune Police a project/ scheme named as Service Excellence and Victim Assistance (SEVA). Under this scheme, complaints of common people have started to resolve. If a citizen expresses dissatisfaction with the service provided by the police, then it is being followed.

This scheme started in 30 police stations of Pune city for the people coming to the police station for filing complaints.

As a part of this scheme, a tab has been given to every police station in the city. The staff of the Police Station records the complaint and the complainant’s information in this tab. For each police station, two employees have been appointed. After filling this information, it is sent to the main control room system.

After that, the Commissioner of the Police Commissioner makes contact to the complainant and asked whether the complaint given to the police has been resolved or not. If complainant expresses dissatisfaction, then it is being followed again to resolve the complaint. Since the start of the ‘SEVA’ project, 16 thousand citizens have been registered in the city.

Out of this 16 thousand citizens, 210 of them expressed dissatisfaction with the police service, said coordinator of the project additional commissioner of Police Sunil Phulari. This project is running under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Swapna Gore, Assistant Commissioner Deepak Humbare.

Citizens’ compliant are being followed in the ‘SEVA’ project. If someone expressed dissatisfaction with the police service, it is also being followed. Instructions are made to contact the concerned officer for resolving the complaint. Some complaints are outside the police premises. In such cases the legal advice are given to the concerned complainant, ” said by Dr. K. Venkatesham, Commissioner of Police of Pune.
