PMC final ward structure declared; aspirant can start preparing now
Pune : Deccan Express The State Election Commission has approved the ward structure final draft of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The final ward structure has now been declared. Following the Supreme Court directive, the election schedule of local self-government bodies is being prepared.
The PMC Election Department has claimed that changes have been made to the boundaries of 32 wards. Department head Dr Yashwant Mane said, “The civic election will be held for a three-member panel per ward. As many as 173 corporators will be elected from the 58 wards. A lone ward will have a two-member panel. The final draft of the ward structure has been published. Various reservations will be decided through a lottery soon.”
Earlier, the Supreme Court had directed to hold civic elections without the OBC reservations in the State. It also instructed to declare the poll schedule within two weeks. The PMC completed the process of inviting and hearing objections and suggestions on the draft ward structure on March 10.
