PM Narendra Modi launched e-Gopala App & Matsya Sampada Yojana fo fisheries sector

New Delhi: On Thurday Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and e-Gopala App for farmers. It is an extension to part of Atmanirbhar programme. The scheme is for the focused and sustainable development of the fisheries sector in the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘People engaged in pisciculture will benefit largely from this scheme. It is our aim that in the next 3-4 years we double our production and give the fisheries sector a boost.”

The e-Gopala App is a comprehensive breed improvement marketplace and information portal for the direct use of farmers. It aims at addressing critical gaps in fisheries sector, boost welfare and create employment. It will bring investments worth Rs 20,050 crores.

Meanwhile, for the fisheries sector, the Finance Minister had announced the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana which allotted Rs 11,000 crore for marine, inland fisheries and agriculture. Additionally, Rs 9000 crore has been allotted for infrastructure including fishing harbours, cold chain, markets etc. The government estimates it to lead to additional fish production of 70 lakh tonnes over 5 years and provide 55 lakh people and double exports to Rs 1,00,000 crore.

Modi further added, ‘PMMSY will led down the path for a renewed White revolution and Sweet revolution. It has proposed to launch the scheme in 21 states in India and boost the fortunes of several milkmen and apiculturists.
