Usually on occasion of Guru Purnima disciples from each corner of areas, rush to Shirdi to celebrate the Sai Baba’s darshan and this year Trust is celebrating century. As Shirdi trust has decided that the darshan will be closed on Fridayafter Shej Aarti.

On this special occasion, Sai Baba’s Palkhi yatra was organised in Shri’s temple. Devotees were mobilized in this event from morning and at 11 am, Sai Baba’s Mahabhishek began. Sai Baba’s Abhishek was performed using Milk, curd, ghee, honey, saffron, lemon, and ganga jal.

In the morning on the first day of the festival, the Trust’s President Dr Suresh Hawre and his wife Lilani Havre took a glimpse of Shri Samadhi. Pooja of holy book Shri Sai Sachchirit was performed in the morning at 5.00 am. In this procession, Chandrasekhar Kadam, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Pradhan, Trustee, ADM Mohan Jaykar and Deputy Collector, Dhananjay Nikam and Trustee Bhausaheb Wakchoure were present.

On this occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of the trust, Rubal Agarwal, Deputy Collector Manoj Ghode Patil, Priya Kadam, Saraswati Wakchoure, Soumitra Jayakar, and Sai devotees were also present in large numbers.

Samadhi Temple will remain closed after Shej Aaarti on Friday due to lunar eclipse. Instead, on Saturday the temple will be open for the darshan on the day of the festival. There is a great importance to worship Guru’s Paduka on Guru Purnima. But this time, the Shirdi temple will remain

Many devotees came to Shirdi on this occasion and received the prasad at Palkhi Mahotsav. Sai Palkhi Yatra was started from Sai Temple via Sarthal Chauki, Post Office Road, Tandon Tiraha, Old Tahsil Road and Shankar College chowk.

The special thing about this Palkhi was that along with Sai Baba, the idol of Lord Ganesha, Radha Krishna and Shankar Parvati’s attracted the crowd. Bhajan evening was also organised in the evening after yatra.

Lakhs of devotees from all over the country visit Shirdi on the day of Guru Purnima every year. Guru Purnima, also known as Vyas Purnima, is the birth anniversary of Ved Vyas – the author and a character in Mahabharata. The day is also believed to be the day when Gautam Buddha gave his first sermon at Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh.
