Phule-Shahu-Ambedkar did not beg to start a school, says Chandrakant Patil, triggers row

Paithan : NpNews24 Online  –  Chandrakant Patil | Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil attended an event in Paithan on Friday. On this occasion, he made a speech and touched on various issues. Patil said, Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Mahatma Phule started schools for untouchables. At that time, they had begged the people and did not seek government subsidies.

In a programme in Paithan, Chandrakant Patil made this statement while quoting great men about the grants given to schools. Patil said, “Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil started schools. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Mahatma Jotirao Phule also started schools. The government did not give them grants to start a school but they begged for that. In those days people were donating Rs.10. Now there are people giving Rs 10 crores.” (Chandrakant Patil)

Nationalist Congress Party MLA Amol Mitkari has objected to Chandrakant Patil’s ‘begging’ words. He has criticized Mr. Patil. “Chandrakant Patil has once again shown that there are talkative heroes in BJP. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, Mahatma Phule, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar had established schools through public contribution and public participation. These great men also spent their own money for schools. They did not beg.” Amol Mitkari mentioned that Patil has insulted all the three great men as beggars.
